EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
From the beginning our Association has organized and continues to organize different events and activities. The aims of these events are to involve as many of our members as possible and to enable them to meet other people living in similar situations. These activities also help them to spend time together and forget about their day-to-day problems.
Sports Day
On 4th of August 2006 we organized a Sports Day, thus inaugurating what has now become a traditional event. This tradition was established because we also organized such days between 2003 and 2005. This year the event was part of the ‘City Days Festival’ in August and around 100 physically disabled persons competed to prove their power and skills in various sports. For this event we provided the transport and meal costs for all the participants.

Fishing Competition
We held a fishing competition in August 2006, also now a traditional event being organized for the third consecutive time. There were 80 participants who obtained more or less successful results. The ‘obligatory’ fish soup was served up afterwards in the form of potato goulash because there wasn't quite enough fish to go round.
Open DayOpen Day was an important opportunity for us to develop our campaign to make all public institutions accessible to the physically handicapped and to bring to the attention of local society, the physically disabled persons' situation. On this occasion important personalities from The City Hall, The County Council and The Church were invited to have a go at solving their everyday problems from a wheelchair (e.g. paying the bills, going to the doctor etc.)
Transport service
In May of 2005 the Handicapped Persons' Association from Harghita County together with the Harghita County Council, Directorate of Social and Children' Rights started a transport service for physically disabled persons. This is a ‘First’ for the whole of Romania. This service provided free transportation for disabled persons living within 45 kilometers of the city. They are transported mainly to different medical appointments, and to the medical commission, etc., by microbus equipped with a special elevator for those in wheel chairs.
